Helen Mae Harper, age 86, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, passed away on December 7, 2011, at St. Johnís Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was born April 25, 1925, in El Dorado Springs, Missouri, to Roy and Goldy Eslinger. Helen was one of five children.
Helen married Dick Harper on March 26, 1946, and had two children: Kenneth and Dennis Harper. Helen worked at the Nevada State Hospital and International Shoe Company, while also being a landlord in El Dorado Springs.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Goldy Eslinger; three siblings: Marvin Eslinger, Marie Myers, and Nelly Yockey; her husband, Dick Harper; and one son, Kenneth Harper.
Survivors include one sister, Opal Arnold; her son, Dennis Harper; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Harper; five grandchildren: Roy Harper, Sheila Jones, Kimberly Gibson, Ashley Hopkins, and Garrik Harper; and seven great-grandchildren: Mandy Ingram, Sabrina and Kyler Gibson, Charity McMillen, Kayliegh and Derion Harper, and Elliana Hopkins.
Helen will be remembered as a strong and independent, while loving and caring, Christian woman. Helen never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone who asked. Helenís last message to family and friends was that she loved everyone more than words could express.
The family would like to thank St. Johnís Hospital in Springfield and St. Johnís Hospice staff and volunteers. Helen was especially touched by the prayer shawls she received and was grateful for a strangerís gift during her last days.
Funeral services for Helen Harper were held on Monday, December 12, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Rev. James Coleman officiating. Interment followed in Clintonville Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Roy Harper, Garrik Harper, Russ Hayes, Robert Hopkins, Dan Hayes, and Larry Eslinger.
