Obituary
Lawrence R. Palmer, age 83, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, was born in Reeds, Missouri, on October 11, 1928. His parents were Clair Palmer and Velma (Baker) Palmer. He passed away at the Community Spring Health Care facility on December 2, 2011, after a lengthy illness.

Lawrence attended school in Modesto, California; then joined the army in January 1952. He was discharged in December 1953. He worked at the International Shoe Company for thirty-three years, until it closed. He then enjoyed working at TapJac for more than ten years, retiring in 2000.

On December 28, 1953, he married Ella Mae Chilton. To this union two children were born: Cynthia McKinney and Phillip Palmer.

Lawrence was an active member of the First Baptist Church until his health failed. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed telling a good joke.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jimmy Palmer; and brother, Franklin Palmer.

Survivors include his wife, Ella, of the home; his brother, Joe Palmer and wife Thelma, of El Dorado Springs; his sister, Beaulah McCurdy, of Lamar, MO; his children, Cynthia McKinney and husband, Les of Marshall, MO; and Phillip Palmer of El Dorado Springs; five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Monday, December 5, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Marsh officiating. Rusty Carver provided music. Interment followed in Clintonville Cemetery under the direction of Bland-Hackleman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Shawn McKinney, Brian McKinney, Kevin Chilton, Jay Farris, Al Stebbins, and Greg Beydler.
